What I’m up to…

I’ve been feeling under the weather for the past few days, so I haven’t had the brain power to put up a post. Sorry about that. 🙁

Instead, I thought I would let you know what I’ve been working on this past week.

I just read The Matchmaker: A Novel. I was really excited when I first started reading because people had been raving about it. I thought was ok. To be honest though, I really like reading happy stories where everyone gets what they want/need in the end. I think real life has enough sadness in it. I don’t need to cry over fictional characters as well. Am I being weird?

Iowa Girl Eats Chicken Strips

I made these potato chip crusted chicken strips last night (Yes, I deviated from my weekly dinner schedule. Ugh, what is wrong with me?!). They were pretty good. The honey mustard dipping sauce was great, actually. I only had plain chips on hand, so the chicken fingers were a little bland. Next time I’ll get the flavored chips she suggests using, or I’ll add some spices to the egg wash. Maybe paprika, onion powder, a dash of cayenne?

I’m in charge of dessert for my family’s pre-Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving eve, if you will. I think I’m going to make this pumpkin swirl cheesecake from Smitten Kitchen’s cookbook. I love her recipes. The amount of content on her website is mind blowing. Her brownie mosaic cheesecake is out of this world. It’s totally labor intensive though, multiple steps and separate recipes for each component. No time for that today.

I kind of love these illustrations of how to set the table for both formal and informal dinner parties. It’s hard to remember where the water and wine glasses go.

I’m getting a new phone this weekend. My screen is cracked into hundreds of pieces and the back keeps falling off every time I pick it up. Someone should invent an indestructible phone. I drop mine all the time.

I’m going to pull the trigger and buy the navy blue paint for my small powder room that I mentioned here. I just recently discovered the View Along The Way blog by Googling “best navy paint colors”. She has a great post comparing a bunch of different shades. How did I not know about this blog before?! A wonderful read if you want to curl up and read some design/decor adventures during your Thanksgiving holiday.

Any other blogs that I’m not reading that I should know about? I love discovering new blogs. Reading though people’s blog archives is one of my favorite things in life. Does that sound stalkery?

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving week so far!

ooox,

Nicole
